Susi Ganeshan Gets Upbeat About His Next Thiruttu Payale-2

Susi Ganeshan Gets Upbeat About His Next Thiruttu Payale-2

Director Susi Ganeshan last directed thriller film Kanthaswamy which released in 2009. Since then he has been away from the limelight. And now after a long hiatus of 8 years, the director is returning back to the silver screen with Thiruttu Payale-2, which is a thematic follow-up of his 2006 directorial venture Thiruttu Payale.

Rumours started doing rounds that Susi’s absence from silver screen is due to the failure of Kanthaswamy. However, when asked from Susi, he denied the news and said that he took so long to come back on screen as he wanted to produce the flick. He further said that the film was not a dud at the box office as it was made on a budget of Rs 23 crore and made a business of nearly Rs 52 crore.

Talking about Thiruttu Payale-2, he said that it is not a sequel, but will have the same flavour. The first part showed the protagonist dying in the end. The settings and the characters of Thiruttu Payale-2 are different. “Ten years earlier, adultery was a shocking subject. Today, there is no kick in talking about it. Thirty years ago, my elder sister was scolded by my father for not closing her room's window because there was a playground near our place, and he did not want anyone looking inside our home. Today, because of social media, forget windows, the walls of our homes have crumbled and anyone can peep inside. Just like how our economies have changed, our social set-up has also changed. I have tried to capture this change,” said Ganeshan.

The film which is produced by Kalpathi Aghoram features Bobby Simhaa, Amala Paul and Prasanna.
