Recently, we saw actress Vijayalakshmi’s husband director Feroz making his debut as a director in Kollywood with Pandigai, a movie on street fights. The film which released in July this year was lauded by everyone. It starred Kreshna and Anandhi in the lead roles.
And now another debutant director Vashan Shaji is coming up with a movie on the same subject. Vashan’s film is titled Vaandu and revolves around two boys from north Madras indulging in street fights, which is banned in the city. Vashan Shaji is a former assistant to Selvaraghavan.
Talking about the film, Vashan said, “The film revolves around a poor boy who wants to become a fighter like his dad, and yet another boy from an affluent background who can afford a coach (master) to learn the art. After a certain time, impressed by his immense talents, the master takes a liking for the poor boy, which irks the rich boy. The conflicts that arise out of this and how a local gangster cashes in on the situation form the rest of the tale.” The movie has Maha Gandhi, Rama, Sai Deena, Ravi Shankar, Chinu, Guna and Alwin playing the lead roles.
