Bollywood star Vidya Balan was currently in Chennai to inaugurate Silk Expo 2017, an initiative of Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, and the Government of India. Since her parents are of Tamilian descent, therefore the actress recalled the fond memories of her associated with Chennai. She also spent time interacting with her fans in the city.

The actress said that she is happy to be back in Chennai after five years. "My father's sister used to live here. I remember coming to Chennai and visiting the Marina beach; my first ever trip to the city was when I was just eight,” said the Kahaani actress.

Vidya was offered many Tamil projects a decade ago, however things did not work out. "I'm glad I didn't get the chance or opportunity in Kollywood at the initial stage of my career. I'm happy things didn't work out back then because I'm really very happy with the way my career has shaped up and dreams have come true," she states.

Recently, she was offered Kaala with Rajinikanth and Kodi with Dhanush, but she refused to be a part of it. When asked from her about the same, she refused to reveal. “I keep getting offers from Kollywood, but it all depends on the script. If some day, I get a script I'm happy with, then I am open to working in Tamil cinema,” she said.
