Mahesh Babu  can be seen on the big screen in the AR Murugadoss directorial, ‘Spyder’. The movie saw an opening of Rs. 51 crore at the worldwide box office. It is expected to cross the 100 crore mark by the weekend as the team hopes to cash in on the holiday festivities. Surprisingly, the Tamil version of the flick has performed better than the Telugu version. Recently, the director shared his thoughts on why he thinks this might have happened.

Explaining the discrepancy in the box office collections of both versions, Murugadoss said, “Mahesh Babu’s home audience expects a certain kind of heroism from him. In Spyder, he is not larger than life. So it’s taking his fans in Andhra and Telangana longer to accept him in an understated low-key heroism”. He added that the audience in Tamil Nadu is “more accepting” of the actor’s “scaled-down heroism”.

In the film, Mahesh plays the role of an intelligence officer who is hunting a psychotic terrorist. He shares screen space with Rakul Preet Singh . The cast also includes S.J. Surya, Bharath and Priyadarshi Pulikonda.
