Eega (Makkhi)
Eega (Makkhi) Review - Crsip Entertainer 0 3.0/5

I had expected an empty hall as i ventured to see a movie about a man reincarnating as a fly to avenge his death. What i found instead was a full house waiting in line to get into the hall. And the surprises just didnt end there. Rajamouli's Eega entertains and how!

Nani loves Bindhu (an impressive Samantha) who in turn is lusted for by rich baddie Sudeep. Sudeep kills Nani so he can lay his hands on Bindhu. Instead, Nani, reincarnated as a fly, avenges his death and kills Sudeep. That the film is improbable and beyond the realm of normal is a given, what is a revelation is how the director never lets it slip into the zone of absurd and silly, maintaining an interesting tempo throughout.

The hero of the film, apart from the eponymous fly, is Sudeep. He plays a comical menacing bad guy with relish and adds the much needed believability to the proceedings. The innocent love track between Nani and Samantha, though short lived justifies the revenge track later on and reduces to a large extent the improbability of a fly on a killing spree.

That brings us to the fly itself. Created with state of the art graphics, Rajamouli invests in his sic legged hero with a lot of emotion and charm. He could ahve easily made him into some talking dancing super being AKA the talking mosquitoes in Endhiran, Instead, the fly here is fly like in every way, communicating through gestures with a micro artist of a girl friend.

Despite the basic premise of the movie being beyond logic, the film an its plot twists are always backed with proper reasoning, kudos to the writers for not letting the film slip into inane drivel. Then there is the necessary flair in good amount too, like the scene where the fly writes his name with tears rolling of his human love's cheeks, for in the end it is a fantabulous imaginary film.

Eega works brilliantly as some high conceptualization is backed by a gripping narrative and some fine performances. I had never thought I would enjoy a movie of this sort. Not only did i enjoy it, am even game for a second go at it. Do not miss this one at any cost.
