Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi
You Could End Up With Suicidal Tendancies 0.5/5

There's something awfully powerful that cinema can do to you. A skillfully written script, well-acted and ably directed, can delight you no end, inspire deepest desires and emotionally overwhelm, OR Life Ki To Lag Gayi happens.

The consequences of purchasing a ticket for these criminal pieces of reels posing as cinema dangle from partial-paralysis, brain damage, kidney failure or an overwhelming desire to grab a gun and shoot oneself.

An amateurly ambitious effort to explore the underbelly of a metropolis and the complex psyche of people patronizing the city - locals' or other aspirants trying to find an identity - LKTL fails so gloriously in all departments, it should receive an honorary Filmfare, just because it managed funding and these kind of actors.

There are multiple stories, seemingly independent of each other but are connected because of the unifying illegalities.

There are shady crime lords who escape to Malaysia, there is a cop who hasn't busted a single racket and wants to stand tall, there's a Ranvir Shorey, depressed in life and finding painless ways to kill himself (I'd have suggested him to watch this very film, but alas, stabbing a screwdriver in your guts would be less painful)

There are totally random models from Chandigarh hoping to make it big in Bollywood (Of course they meet Shakti Kapoor). There is also a KK Menon who wants revenge against his father's murder and he has a kid who's forever expressionless (and who lives in a yellow castle facing blue waters.)

These startling stories have no connection with each other until a brutal climax where Ranvi Shorey plays serial-killer, secretly hoping, he could secure as many hits whilst venting out his frustration.

The cop guy busts a Nigerian gang all of whom look like underage kids trying to play ball. Girls flee back to Chandigarh after having a meal at a shady hotel and as an afterthought, getting to know the notoriety of the city.

By now, the actors themselves don't give a damn about their characters or the lines they have to say. The director has probably got measles and is restless in bed, so there is no sense of an immediate closure.

Before you decide to bomb the theater with an explosive, some characters automatically curtail their existence while others go and chill with their sons' and girlfriends.

Like a great critic said, "Life is too short to watch bad movies."

This is one. So you know what to do.
