Chaar Din Ki Chandni is the romantic -cum- comic story of two marriages to be solemnized within four days ( thanks to shubh din mahurats which pandit jees pull out) ,one of the two being the happy go bubbly girl Chandni. What twists and turns the story takes is the rest of the movie.
A royal Rajasthani maha kutumbh ( based in Jodhpur) consists of the karta ( Anupam Kher ) ,her youngish and beautiful wife ( Anita Raaj),their five sons ( Sushant Singh,Chandrachur Singh,Mukul Dev,Harish and Tushaar Kapoor) and the only daughter.A match has been finalized for the daughter in another royal gharana.A visiting girl ( Kulraj Randhawa, posing as a journalist ) is in love with one of the sons ( Tushaar). The problem is that the karta doesn't consent to the relationship because, the girl - Chandni - belongs to a Sikh Parivar ,not Rajput.
The parents of Chandni ( Om Puri and Farida Jalal) have struck an idea to present Veer ( Tushar) as a Sikh ( Pammi )suitor.Does the plan succeed? Does Chandni get Veer?
Does the presentation appeal? No,barring the hide and seek between Veer and Pammi. The scripting and screenplay is poor.Humor is forced, not natural.
Then what appeals? The characterization of Tushaar as Pammi Sardar, which he carries with aplomb.
All in all CDKC has some scope to run in small town halls, forget the metro audience.See the movie with the least expectations and enjoy the fun, what bit you can.
