BBB has to be the most under-rated movie of the year. The fabled Yashraj publicity machine did not go into overdrive with this obvious cracker of a film. While we were drowning (or swimming) with Sheila, a very cool hero made his appearance and an already cool heroine became cooler!
Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh are the life of this amazingly real romance, set in the glitzy, garish world of Delhi weddings. From the campus of Kirori Mal college to the DDA Market of Paschim Vihar, the lead pair infuses the film's already strong script with an energy that is quite infectious. Their innocence, their ambition and their eventual romance is real without being boring, filmy without being excessively over-the-top.
The two actors are quintessential Delhi youngsters, masters in the art of jugaad and they get the lingo & accent bang on. Their 'binness', their 'riginalty' and their chutzpah are so out of West Delhi that they become like your favourite neighbor right from the word go. And from then on, you just egg them on their ambition to go organising weddings from Janak Puri to Sainik Farms!
A special thumbs up to the script-writer and director is absolutely mandatory. Habib Faisal (who has written the screenplay and dialogues) also helmed the brilliant (and again, under-rated) Do Dooni Char earlier this year. Maneesh Sharma (the director) has been assisting Yashraj directors for some time now. Together, they bring out one of the most authentic stories of modern ambition and romance in recent times.
Here's looking forward to more such stories from them!
