If the climax of this film is put out as a front page news item in a newspaper it would definetly intrigue a lot of people. this then is a why did it happen story. the difference is that the director decides to tell it from a point of view in which we see one of the characters telling it to a first time novelist.

Partly based in Purulia ( known for the infamous arms drop case) Jeena hai toh thok daal is about 4 guys ( Yashpal Sharma, Ravi Kishen, Manish Vatsalya and Rahul Kumar) respectively known as Mehkoo, Chandrabhan, Atka and Bitwaa. they are hired as hitman to kill Mr Pawars ( Govind Namdeo) daughter Shrishti (Hazel Crowney). Pawar is the owner of a media house who is hell bent on exposing Rana (Sharat Saxena). its a one time hit for the 4 guys that will get them 8 lakhs rupees but as soon as they land at Dadar stn Chandrabhan sees Shrishti and falls in love with her. and then everything around everyones life changes.

The setup is nicely done and the camaradarie between the 4 guys is light, naughty and is an exercise in male bonding with an item number called palang tod jawaani meri thrown in. but the moment the film moves to Bombay it derails and then a major amount of screen time is spent in the will they kill shristi? game. why kill shrishti when you can kill pawar? the answer to this question would have solved everyones life including the viewers.

Director Manish Vatsalya takes the meatiest part of Atka and to an extent delivers quite a good performance. if given a well written character he can delver. Atka inspite of being the quirkiest character in the film ends up leaving you with a wtf was that? expression on your face. the intention of the director was to probably show how people from small villages get stuck in the underworld of bombay but by bringing in the ploy of love to take the story forward he just thokos the entire film on its own head.

Word of mouth jeena hai toh yeh film dekhne se apne aap ko rok daal
