Mr. Bhatti on Chutti
Disaster of a vacation 2.0/5

Disaster of a vaction

Last year I was the unlucky one chosen to watch Karan Razdans previous film Aagah - The warning, which according to me should be called Indias first patriotic horror film. Karan seems to be obsessed with terrorism and desh bhakti stories so after bringing patriotism to horror he now makes a comedy patriotic film while taking inspiration from Mr. Bean.

Whats it about? - BB Bhatti works as an assistant manager for Dhanlaxmi bank in Nallasopara and is a private detective of his area. I remember all this because its hammered so many times in the film that I stopped counting after 5. Bhatti gets a free 3 weeks holiday to London in a contest which he never entered. What he doesnt know is that he has been tricked into this holiday and a larger plan awaits him there.

My take The biggest casualty of this film is Pawan Shankar who makes his debut with this. Having seen him in some episodes of a serial called Siddhant I had felt that he has tremendous potential as an actor. Its sad that he had to make his debut in a role like this. The film doesnt have a single genuinely funny scene but the one which is unintentionally funny and a joke which the director cracks on himself is a scene in which he is standing outside Amitabh Bachchans bungalow amongst the people who wait for him every Sunday. He is waiting there to get dates from Mr. Bachchan. Yes this is the 2nd release of Amitabh Bachchan this week. Here he does a 2 scene guest appearance and is also present as a voice (dubbed by a mimicry artiste) at regular intervals. Most of the film is a 2 hr promotion for star tours. The star tour bus keeps appearing to remind us when in London use star tour. Neha Phendse a known marathi actress wastes herself in a film like this.

Word of mouth Mr. Bhatti on Chutti will find its target audience on television. The theatres I predict will welcome it with empty seats.
