    Verdict - entertainer of today

Son Of SardaarWatch trailerRelease date : November 13, 2012

In the movie business the trade pandits say that movies are made based on what sells. So over the last some years stories have been recycled/ remixed/ remade to ensure commercial success to hell with originality. So if Golmaal works 2 others follow and many other cases.

Audience tastes have changed and mindless entertainment is what they want since a number of such movies panned by critics are blockbusters.Today even a serious filmmaker like Sanjay Leela Bansali is associated with Rowdy Rathore and maybe he will make another classic with the profits.Escapism is the theme and there is a constant feeling of Deja Vu --nothing is original any more. Why be original if you can laugh all the way to the bank with such movies which expect you to leave your brain at home.

It is against this backdrop that a film like SOS has to be evaluated.Of course the plot has been done before, the characters are unbelievable, the dialogue inane, the question is whether it is paisa wasool ? Ajay Devgn as the nutty Sardar has done what his fans want him to do and comes riding on 2 horses and generally playing moron ( Next time he will ride on 2 camels ) Sonakshi also plays cute and lovely as expected. Two songs the title one and rajarani are very catchy. Ajay in an interview has said that he requested choreographer Ganesh Acharya to include movements which could be done by an average person Hence a song like Popo.

All in all SOS is an entertainer of the present times and is to be taken in this spirit. Audiences have made smash hits out of similar earlier films and such a film will be made again since SOS has done commmercially well.
