“It’s heartwarming & heartbreaking at the same time! Go for it”
Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor has been yesteryear superstars. They had created magic not just individually, but the cheers and claps got louder everytime they were together. But post the 1991 film Ajooba, they were never seen together until today. And watching 102 Not Out, this generation of the 90s and 00s will probably realise what we had been missing out for a long time. 102 Not Out is a heartwarming story of a lively 102 year old man and his quest to make his grumpy 75 year old learn how to enjoy and live every moment of life. He teaches him how to hold on to memories that are dear and let go of things that gives one pain. With two stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor sharing screen space, the characters of Dattatreya and Babu comes alive. The actors bare open the complexities and vulnerabilities of the character. You would laugh one moment and then cry along with them as they continue to win in this journey called life. But one actor who gave a stupendous performance along with the two stalwarts is Jimit Trivedi. He nailed it as the innocent and naive man who is constantly with Dutta and Babu. This is Umesh Shukla's second film after Oh My God to have been adapted from a play. Saumya Josh's play has been perfectly adapted in this film. Umesh Shukla focuses on small elements and imageries to tell his story and beautifully captures the the bare emotions that every human being would go through. He creates a connect with the audience and takes us along with his characters to this journey. The music is also worth a mention. It is beautiful how old songs have been used at the right moments in the film. Amongst the original songs, Sonu Nigam's Kulfi will stay with you for a long time. This is one perfect slice of life film that will take you through a roller coaster of emotions. This film is to be watched with your whole family and trust me, you would come out content after watching the film.
