Coming on the heels of Toonpur ka Superhero makes Ashoka a target for immediate comparison and it fails poorly in the contest. The story concept is interesting but marred by pathetic animation and little imagination in the narration.

Ashok is a schoolboy who gets superpowers from a disc given to him by Emperor Ashokas emissary (dont ask, just watch). This makes him battle evil and avert disasters such as plane crashes like Superman. The climax fight is with a good turned evil scientist that put my 4 year old daughter in a tizzy but I can imagine anyone older than her stifling a yawn at the happenings on screen.

The puzzling (and unintentionally funny) part is the animation of Shivani Kashyap towards the end, singing the title song wiggling both her eyebrows. Agreed that she has composed and sung it but I wonder why we have to also see it. Kids are going to wonder why the superhero does not bash her up too.

Wait for it to appear on Cartoon Network on a Sunday morning to keep the kids busy when you want to read your Sunday papers in peace.
