Sometimes one is not able to put one's finger on what is wrong with an unsatisfactory film. For starters I felt that Emraan was not a suitable choice to play Azhar though he did get a bit of the swagger right. Also the way the film progressed was not impressive. Only some scenes specially the romantic ones featuring the lead pair were done well.
It is no easy task to chronicle the life story of a legend from his rise to his downfall given the flimsy format of this existing Hindi film. Huge talent is required from the writer, director and performers. While Emraan gives in a perfunctory act, Prachi Desai as the suffering wife is just adequate. Despite the scope available, Nargis Fakri as the other woman also does not make a good job of it and towards the end almost acts as the second wife. Don't know if it was intended to be shown that way.The depiction of some other cricketers of that time also falls short of expectations.
I don't think director Tony D'Souza has done full justice to the ups and downs in the life of this famous personality. The overall feeling after seeing the film is that it could have been done much better.
