Baankey ki crazy baraat is a comic caper gone a bit awry.

The basic premise is crazy enough. A man wants to get married but his stars foretell that it is unlucky for him to do so. The only way to circumvent the problem is by having a proxy marriage. So someone else particiapates in the actual wedding ceremony but then vanishes and this guy becomes the husband. Once the subterfuge is set up there are ample opportunites to create funny situations. Some of the situtations and characters work and some don't. So you will get a few laughs along the way but not enough to keep you entertained throughout. The movie also has one of the most abrupt endings I have ever seen. It's as if the director homself got fed u pof the movie and deiced to just call off the whole thing.

Rajpal Yadav plays Baankey, the unfortunate man desparate to get married. He brings a hyper active energy to the role which at rare times is funny but mostly just exhausts you. His character is almost demented and showing mad men as being funny when out of fashion in primary school. The person who does make you laugh is Vijay Raaz as the local gangster who keeps the wedding running smoothly by just making trouble-makers disappear and Sanjay Mishra as Baanke's uncle. These are fine actors and when you are clutching at straws these are like rafts saving you from drowning. The lead pair of bride and groom are not really important and could have been played by just anybody.

There are four unecessary songs which drag the already sluggish pace down. I think it's time that we officially buried the item number. They serve no purpose except to give a starlet a leg up. Avoid being part of this baraat.
