Loosely based on a Korean movie Couples, Badmashiyan revolves around a con-girl, like a female version of Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, where Naari (Suzanna) [how's that for a name, or a terrible attempt at a metaphor] makes men fall for her only to dump them. Yet, she doesn't have a type, going from a nice guy to a smart guy to a criminal, fluttering around eventually to invite trouble for herself. Amit Khanna's characters are not cliched, true, but the problem with trying to be different is the difficulty in pulling it off.
The detective trying to find Naari's whereabouts, the don who manages to enthrall you with his acting and the original couple, who look a tad too inexperienced to convince you of anything let him down. While there have been worse movies, laced with obscenity and cliches, this one is just plain boring because it lacks insightful execution. Novelty isn't half as good if not dealt with substance.
The movie isn't accentuated either by good music or good cinematography to make the whole ordeal pleasant. In the past bad movies have gotten away thanks to nice songs, but this one rarely has a melody that sticks to you. All in all, it is just a less that not all Badmashiyan are fun!
