“Even with an intriguing premise, Dangerous Ishhq fails to excite the audiences owing to some trashy performances and the mislaid chemistry between the leads. This one’s definitely not a comeback film for someone like Karisma Kapoor!”

Past Life Regressive

Last year Vikram Bhatts Haunted worked at the box office. This year he teams up with his Haunted writer Amin Hajee to bring back Karisma Kapoor after almost 6 years of sabbatical. Why Karisma Kapoor chose this film to end her sabbatical is the biggest mystery & it will require her to do some past life regression and find out her connection with Vikram Bhatt.

Whats it about? Karisma Kapoor is about to get married to Rajneesh Duggal. The moment they decide on the wedding date Rajneesh is kidnapped and Karisma gets hit on her head. The search to find him takes her through three past lives spanning 500 years.

My take The premise was quite good. Imagine a suspense thriller where a kidnapped person has to be rescued and the clues to finding him lies in the past lives of his loved one. Its blasphemous to compare the two but Tarsem entered the mind of a serial killer to hunt down a kidnapped victim and made the visually orgasmic The Cell. This film doesnt work for me for one big single reason. The reason being that I cant digest Rajneesh Duggal as a lead actor in this film. There was not even a slight hint of chemistry between him and Karisma to make the audience believe in the intense love and passion that she projects for him. Karisma is at her weakest best when it comes to a role where she has to scream and shout and this role had plenty of moments for her to ham at her best. All the supporting cast do their job with utmost sincerity alas it doesnt help the film. The production design is good and so is the background score. I will have to go through a past life regression session to find out why I was chosen to review this dangerous ishhq. I leave you with probably the only gem in the film. In one scene Jimmy tells Karisma are you part of the problem or part of the solution?" Karisma replies "i am a part of Rohan and Rohan is part of me (slow clap)

Word of mouth At least Vikram Bhatts Haunted had a tharkee bhoot for entertainment. This one doesnt even induce unintentional laughter.
