Faltu is a story about a group of friends that are considered a total waste. The cherry on the cakebeing that they take pride in the fact. These hard-working back-benchers are hardly seen working. They crowd up the clubs of the town while the lecture halls remain empty. However a turn in their lives leads them to such a situa...more

Verdict

“A foolish comedy with average performances which gets repetitive & boring too soon. Watch it at your own risk.”

First and foremost, it requires guts to keep a title like Faltu. And second, to release it a day before the world cup final. Either Vashu Bhagnani has too much faith in his sons talent or he loves him to death. I am assuming the second one is true.

Faltu is about Ritesh (Jacky Bhagnani) , Pooja (Pooja Gupta) and Nanj (Angad Bed) who pass out of college but are unable to get admission to another college for further studies. They have another friend Vishnu (Chandan Roy Sanyal) who is the studious one with 94% marks. After repeated attempts when the three of them fail to get admission in any college they create a college for themselves with the help of Google (Arshad Warsi) & Bajirao (Ritesh Deshmukh).

The film picks up a good issue, that after watching the film I came to know is lifted from the Hollywood film Accepted so there goes the only brownie point. Director Remo clearly shows that he is not cut out to be called a director yet. There is not enough semblance of storytelling in his direction. inspite of having an army of writers on board none out of them could come up with a single gag or a situation for some good comedy. The good thing about the film is that it doesnt irritate, at least in the first half. Also, in spite of having one girl in the film it doesnt go through the romance grind. So we are saved of some romantic scenes and songs. Remo high on the Dance India Dance success devotes the entire climax to a naach gaana session which though well done, looked like a segment out of Indias got talent. Two films old Jacky Bhagnani still fails to leave an impact. He is not an irritating actor but doesnt have a spark and has not yet got a role to shine on the silver screen. Angad Bedi & Pooja Gupta are passable . Chandan Roy Sanyal holds fort but this one is a poor follow up to Mikael in Kaminey. The music in the film is quite breezy and listenable.

Final few words: Along with Game this one is an April fool joke on the audience.
