One of the lesser discussed incidents of the 1971 Indo Pak war was the sinking of Pakistani submarine Ghazi off the coast of Vishakhapatnam. Now director Sankalp Reddy makes a fairly engaging film surrounding this incident. History has not put events surrounding this film all too clearly and hence the long disclaimer about the historical correctness.
Be that as it may, one can sit through this film with excitement as it takes us through the plot as it develops. The problem with this film is that it never rises beyond mediocre levels in respect of the acting, dialogue or special effects. Rather there is considerable overacting by most actors. Scenes become monotonous as they take place inside the submarine and they lack dramatic flourish required. Actors Rana Duggabati and.Atul Kulkarni do what they can as the Naval officers caught between what they should do do and what their Captain wants them to do. The actor playing the Pakistani commander hams it heavy. Tapsee Pannu is wasted in a small role.Full marks to the production team however for making the effort to make a film on this difficult subject. Also there are are not many films on Indian Navy compared to films on Indian Army and Air Force. It is therefore worth a visit.
