If you are, or rather were, a fan of the Ramsay school of horror film making, Haunted 3D might humor you with faint nostalgia. Otherwise, Haunted 3D is a puerile attempt at spooking the hell out of you.

An ancient mansion is to be sold by an NRI, Mahaakshay (aka Mimoh of Jimmy). He reaches this manor to find out that a ghost of a girl was raped by another ghost here, and both of them keep repeating the act with clock work precision in the mansion. Throw in a bizarre 80 year old letter, a hurried flashback, and our hero travels in time to find the raaz behind the ghosts and the spooked mansion.

A flimsy story line in a horror film is easily forgiven if the film has enough chills to thrill. Haunted 3D is full of tricks, a screeching door, a piano that plays by itself, an old letter, a song for the ghost, and loud blaring background score. Yet the thrills never actually come. The reason behind this is the staggeringly wooden turn by the cast of the film.

Mahaakshay is pathetically staid. Either perplexed or angry/scared, he just has two expressions throughout the length of the movie. Twinkle is just a pretty face and thats about it. Rest of the cast seem to be on a retard school trip, trying their best to look mentally out of order.

Vikram Bhat gave us Raaz, the defining horror film of new age bollywood. He then gave us 1920, a not so decent flick that surprisingly worked. And now he has given us Haunted 3D, Indias first stereoscopic 3D.

The film fails to exploit 3D to its hilt. Those 4D flicks in a 4D theatre at malls are scarier and effective than Haunted 3D. The effects are praiseworthy no doubt, yet the film to far too long to sustain a spook ride without any real story to unravel.

Watch Haunted 3D with a gang of friends if you must. The unintended comedy in the film might just give you a few good laughs.
