The first part to this sequel was released with a lot of noise because Akshay Kumar was associated with this along with Lara Dutta, Dimple Kapadia and other Bollywood celebrities. This one is a gareeb product with some unknown dubbing artistes and it got a very low key release.
Whats it about? Not having seen Jumbo didnt seem to be a hindrance in following Jumbo 2. Jumbo is married to Sonia. He has to leave a pregnant Sonia because duty scores over beauty. Sonia gives birth to twins called Luv & Kush (how imaginative). Shauryagadh (villain kingdom) attacks Jumbos village and takes Sonia, Luv, Kush and their friends. Jumbo has to save them, his kingdom and also find ways to bond with his family.
Does it work for me? No.
Why? - Its written for tiny tots and kids under 3 might find it amusing. Filled with characters like a bunch of orphan elephants called Hariya, Neel, Rasgulla. Their antics will please the kids. The villain in this one is Zorawar s/o of Bhaktawar (inspired by Hum kya?). To give it due credit the film is extremely fast paced with something or the other happening all the time. The villain elephant Zorawar is not exploited enough to make him menacing.
Final few words: Jumbo is ideal for under 3 yr olds to but I guess even they would not find this highly engaging or entertaining.
