This is the story of 4 women of all ages from teens to plus 50 who are struggling to break free from the shackles of male dominated society. First you have a college going girl itching to get out of her burkha and into her jeans. Next we have a 20 plus nymphomaniac who is ready for sex anytime anywhere and who is avoiding the arranged marriage fixed by her parents. The third case is of a docile housewife caught in a loveless marriage and subjected to marital rape everyday even as the husband has an on
going affair. The last case is of an elderly lady trying to live in a romantic world as she fancies herself in romantic situations.
The director is able to bring out the angst and anguish of the female characters through some hard hitting scenes. Whether there was a need for so much sex is worth asking. So the script finds a sex scene on the eve of her marriage, sex in the car, sex in the bathroom etc. The scene suggestive of marital rape is well done. Among performances Konkona Sen acts superbly as the oppressed wife. The others including Ratna Pathak have acted well.
