“The stale routine treatment of this romcom will leave you Hateshhuda.”
You know when a parsimonious aunt coaxes you to go to a cut price shop and pick up lengths of suit material left over from the thaan, or a cheap tea brand pays for the tea dust left over once the bidding for tea leaves is over. Bus same to same feeling aaraha hai while watching LOVESHUDA. Such a #%**ada of a movie. Thoda HANGOVER ka choona, thoda NEAL n NICKIE, little bit of the psycho fiance and pre wedding jitters from ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DUBARA with a tadka of every maniac pixie girl ever.
There are a couple of decent lines in this film about a supressed and border line depressed young bloke who is shown as letting his inner freak out when he is drunk.. Or so the writers hope.. Gaurav poor guy looks like a corporate junkie out to take everyone's coffee orders even when seen as getting his coiffed hair loose. The problem with some of the good lines are that they are mouthed by a group of earnest young people who would get egged if they get to perform on stage at a college fest. The film makers want to let their inner Chopra and Johar out, after all they are in the Bilayet, but kinda tough on a budget and lack of an engaging and original script.
I felt a slight bit of sympathy for the female protagonist, but after she accepts a proposal that involved being accused of financial bungling and near blackmail at a police station--it was difficult to support her. And once you know that she will be quoting a nani ma and her cheesy HallMarkisms that involve stalking people in public spaces and judging them from their worry lines and compromises in life, you wish she gets hit by a car and there is nary a SANAM TERI KASAM tree to bury her under and hope for her to be reincranted as flowers that fall upon lovers.
Close to the interval there is a dream sequence that involves the hero standing on a ledge and contemplating jumping off and flying like a Superman and you stop yourself from coaxing him to jump and put you out of your misery.
Two death wishes for the lead protagonists of a new release so early in the day. Hic! that must be all the Irish in my coffee which is the only way you can survive the next two hours.
