Mughal-e-Azam- Directed by K. Asif and produced by Shapoorji Pallonji epic historical drama Mughal stars Prithviraj Kapoor as Akbar, Dilip Kumar as Salim, Madhubala in the role of Nadira (Anarkali) and Durga Khote as Jodhabai. The story of this film is based on the love affair of the Mughal prince Salim and a dancer Anarkali, which was disapproved by Salim’s father, Emperor Akbar. The film has 12 soundtracks inspired by Indian classical music which was voiced by Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, and Gulam Ali Khan. Mughal-e-Azam was released on August 5, 1960, and had the widest release that any Indian film up to that time. it broke the box office records in India and became the highest grossing Bollywood film of all times. Mughal-e-Azam was the first black-and-white Hindi film to be digitally colored and was re-released in color version in November 2004. This film was awarded one National Film Award and 3 Filmfare awards.   less
