“Despite an unknown cast and a dragged out screenplay, Pyaar Ka Punchnama manages to provide frequent laughs. Unfortunately, that is all the film has got.”

Somewhere in the beginning of the film 3 men sing life sahi hai, tension nahi hai. And then tension comes in the form of 3 women.
Pyar ka Punchnama is written purely from a mans point of view. The screenplay paints the women black and the men white. In quite an unreal way 3 men fall in love at the same time at an age that looks a little too late for them to fall in love for the first time. Wonder why they took so long. chalo theek hai par they all end up with women who seriously need psychiatric help. One is a nagging girlfriend (Nushrat) who wants control in the relationship and starts having issue about everything in the guy , the 2nd one (Sonalli) is a confused woman who doesnt know if her relationship of 5 years has ended or not. She finds solace in another guy. The 3rd one (Ishita) copes with a long distance relationship by being friends with an office colleague. If there can be award for best scene this year one scene from this film will win hands down in which Kartikeya Tiwari delivers an almost nonstop monologue that lasts over 5 mins I think and can work as a user manual for couples in a bad relationship.
The writing is close to real with some really funny lines and scenes that work. The conflict takes a little long to resolve itself and towards the 2nd half I was missing the lighter moments from the first half. The big reason why the film works is because of the 3 male leads. Kartikeya, Rayo & Divyendu make a smashing debut. Their performance is a slap on the face for the likes of Imran Khan who is struggling to get a romantic film right since his debut. The girls perform their characters in perfect sync with the boys. It is comdramedy which was needed for todays times. Luv Ranjan has made a respectable debut & I will be eagerly waiting for his next one.
Final few words: Pyar ka Punchnama is for couples who want to reflect on their relationship & find things common about them in the lives of these 3 men & women. These guys have cracked genre which Yashraj & Dharma were not able to crack. If you didnt like I hate luv story & break ke baad this film is for you.
