Verdict
“Raja Natwarlal starts off as a clever 'masaledaar' revenge drama that eventually becomes too twisted and tedious to follow. Even Emraan Hashmi's charm cannot redeem this disappointingly lazy film.”
Disclaimer : The box office number indicates the approximate lifetime earnings of a film in India. Although it has been collated by extensive secondary research/ resources, we don’t guarantee its accuracy and assume no liability or responsibility for any errors or omissions. However it is sufficiently indicative but not exact figures of the box office performance of a film since release.
Raja Natwarlal is what happens when a heist movie is not cool. Its got a blah plot, replete with one dimensional dimensional characters and a plethora of plot holes. It literally has no moments that you'd remember which makes my task as a reviewer much harder. Raja Natwarlal is so damn boring, It's being prescribed to insomniacs.
Raja and Raghav are two small time crooks who get themselves in a mess by robbing a big crook, Vardha Yadav. Yadav can't let this go without making a statement, so he puts out a hit on both of them, leading to the death of Raghav. Raja then devises a plan along with the master of the 'lamba khel', Paresh Rawal to get back at Yadav using his own obsession against him (cricket). They're going to auction off a fake cricket team to him. .
Heist movies are one of those few movies that live and die by how cool their protagonists are. In this case, Raja Natwarlal dies quite badly and rather often. Not even once does the word slick come to mind while describing the movie. You're better off daydreaming about pulling off your very own heist than going for this.
