Rakhta Charitra 2 begins with a 20 min recap which is a torture if you have lived through the first one. Not surprising then the audience in my theatre started to scream and shout arre yeh pehla part laga diya yeh part maine tv pe dekha hai. The screening had to be stopped. After a few minutes people realized that this was a recap kuch bhi karta hai yeh ram gopal varma then began the ultimate tribute to junior artistes called Rakhta Charitra 2.

Either RGV himself or someone in his team is super impressed with Zack Snyder because this film is a sequence of high speed (slow motion) shots strung together haphazardly to make it look like a revenge drama. If part 1 was unintentionally hilarious part 2 is an unintentional tribute to the junior artistes of Hindi film industry. It is because of the high speed shots that a lot of junior artistes get ample screen time to showcase their talent. Every junior artiste who has worked on this film should take their friends & family to the movie. This is the closest they will come to stardom. No more blink & miss moments on screen. See yourself for the longest time ever. Rgv you have done great service to them by making this film.

In the sequence when Surya surrenders the expression of the judge is priceless, also it is the most gripping sequence in the film. The writing is boring and dull except a few scenes which work in isolation. The dialogues come across as coming out of the writers mouth rather than the characters. The only thing which worked for me in the film was Surya. He brings in the emotional quotient to the film that was missing in the 1st one. Every time he is on screen it is a treat. Somebody please make an action film with him. The other two performances that stand out are by Priyamani (Suryas wife) & Radhika Apte (Viveks wife). Radhika reminds me of Shefali Chhaya. Her confrontation scene with Vivek is superb. Priyamani is a talent waiting to be tapped. She has had two releases this year but none did justice to the potential she has as an actor.

Vivek Oberoi who was the poster boy for this film has been given a raw deal by the director. Suryas performance overshadows whatever impression he had made in the first one. He doesnt get even a single scene to showcase his talent and that is a sad state to be in. Shatrughan Sinha is made to look a caricature of him self and is made to mouth a line made famous by the Big B Rishten mein toh hum tumhare baap lagte hai. Couldnt the dialogue writer think of any good lines for a man who is famous for his dialogues?

Final few words: If you are a Surya fan you cant miss this one and if you are not trust me you will turn into one. Casting Surya is RGVs good deed of the year.
