Only some film maker like Sanjay Bhansali can think of making a triangular love story set against the backdrop of World war 2 during the 1940s.He does exactly this as he shows Julia the famous stunt actress of those times( Kangana Ranaut) caught between the love for studio owner Russi ( Saif Ali Khan) and soldier Nawab ( Shahid Kapoor). Despite the wide format of this period film and the songs/ dances, this film does not connect with today's audiences who are more used to relatable characters and entertainment of a different kind. The scenes look stagy and manipulated for effect. Many of the scenes appear artificial and long winded, The songs are well shot and presented no doubt but the narrative becomes monotonous and dry at most places. The plus points are the impressive performances of the three lead players specially Kangana, and the music.
