The reason I wanted to see this film was to check out the debut of Govinda's daughter even though I very well knew the type of movie I was in for. It was disappointing to see Tina Ahuja in a small role but for a first film she has done well. She has a charming screen presence and given bigger roles under better directors she will do well
The film itself is a mediocre collection of scenes passing off as comedy and the desperation is showing. The so called lead couple Tina Ahuja and Gippy Grewal are eclipsed by a number of established Bollywood actors like Dharmendra, Rati Agnihotri, Vijay Raaz, Sanjay Mishra, Alok Nath and Ravi Kissen. They have all acted well within the confines of their roles. Geeta Basra has a comparatively big role which she does well
The film is Punjabi by nature, in content and style and is shot in Punjab. Most of the actors are Punjabi also. It is more of a Punjabi film where Hindi is spoken. Hence there is high decibel talking by all to lend a Punjabi flavour to the proceedings.
The plot is fairly simple. Gippy is divorcing his wife Geeta who wants a hefty alimony. Gippy also wants to marry Tina but her parents object because he would be left with very little money after paying off a monthly alimony. Gippy therefore desperately tries to get Geeta married after divorcing her so that he does not have to pay alimony. How he goes about it forms the rest of the film.
This is a laid back light comedy which tends to irritate you in some places and is boring in parts but the actors somehow carry it off.The film does even try to be a romcom.
A surprise scene with cricketer Harbhajan Singh in a cameo is done well.
