What else do you need to make a super-grossing movie in today's time? No doubt Sultan is going to break box office records, as the 9 am show on a Wednesday was housefull. But here's what went wrong, at least for an audience like me.

Sultan is part Dabangg, part Brothers. You see Salman on screen, acting and pulling off a wrestler's role. But that is it. You don't see the character Sultan Ali Khan. The storyline is pretty obvious, and every single thing in the film is predictable and stretched out.

Sultan Ali Khan becomes a wrestler to win his lady love,, then goes on to become world champion. In the due course of that, he becomes arrogant and loses everything. Yes, even his love. But then he strives to get it all back and, no you won't get any brownie points for guessing, he succeeds.

The kushti sequences are well filmed, however the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fights are hyped and stretched. Melodrama rules the second half and in 80% of those 1 hour 20 minutes, I was constantly reminded of the film 'Brothers' starring Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra.

There is music, but apart from 'Jag Ghoomeya' nothing will last longer on your playlist. Foot tapping number 'Baby ko base pasand hai' is rocking the charts but that is all. It is another party song which will give its way to other ones with time.

Anushka Sharma has done a good job, but she has very less screen time. Same can be said about Randeep Hooda who plays Salman's coach in the film.

You can go watch this film if you want to watch Salman being Salman. Which you can see otherwise too. Not a significant film, considering the hype around wrestling and the sports it created.
