Tiger zinda hai and though he is eight years older he is still as agile and strong as ever. This time he takes on a mighty Islamic terrorist organisation that has taken over a hospital in Syria and taken nurses captive. The nurses are Indian as well as Pakistani and who else can save them but Tiger? And his wife Zoya who is an ex Pakistani ISI agent? At home, she cooks and cleans but on the field, she kicks ass and how!

The rescue mission is a strong hook to hang the movie on and it does this with a vengeance giving us scene after scene of various varieties of fights and action sequences.

The movie takes too long to set up and through the first half has a lot of action scenes it does drag a bit. The second half is tighter and more watchable as the deadline approaches to free the nurses and this half of the film does get you more involved than the first half. There is a bit of relief from the action in the form of small jokes sprinkled throughout delivered in typical Sallu style. This helps to relieve the tension somewhat.

The story seeks to weave in the 'aman ki asha' theme with the RAW and ISI agents working together to save the nurses. Though the dialogues for this whole theme sound totally corny and almost preachy at times it still manages to evoke a sense of patriotism and evoked the maximum whistles from the house full theatre.

The movie makes all the characters, (Indian, American, Syrian etc) speak in Hindi. Though that sounded a bit strange at first, it actually works very well. You figure it's like a dubbed thing and it eliminates the need for subtitles. I liked the idea.

Salman is cool as Tiger and pretty much stone-faced in his expressions. Maybe RAW agents are trained to be stoic. It is obviously his movie all through. Katrina has a few great action scenes and she is impressive as she somersaults, kicks and shoots her way through. The rest of the team are eye candy with their well-built bodies. Paresh Rawal as the recruitment agent stands out for his comic timing.

If you like a pure action movie then Tiger zinda hai is for you. If you are a Salman fan then also it is for you. I am not a big action fan so found it a bit heavy going and a bit too long. However, it can be a good movie to watch in a crowded theatre where the energy is infectious and can carry you along.

Wishing you all a merry Christmas and swag se karo 2018 ka swagat!
