When you expect a movie to a little out of the box but get the same kind of Bollywood cliches, you get very saddened. With a predictable storyline and a very scattered screenplay, Rensil D' Silva's 'Ungli' has nothing new to offer. The big star cast too is not able to save this utterly disappointed movie.
The film opens up with the Ungli Gang consisting of Maya (Kangna Ranaut), Abhay (Randeep Hooda), Goti (Neil Bhoopalam) and Kaleem (Angad Bedi) taking on their first challenge, fighting against corruption and getting 'famous' in no time. By their deeds they help eradicate corrupt officials and win the hearts of the common public. To catch these unlawful gang members an honest police officer Ashok Kale (Sanjay Dutt) is up and ready and for this he appoints a suspended police officer Nikhil (Emraan Hashmi). What will happen next is the rest of the story.
Rensil D' Silva seems to stuck between pleasing both the critics and the audience but ends up pleasing none. Sloppy editing and super cheesy dialogues like "Kaale Hain Dilwale Hain", "India mein 300 sher hain, ek kum ho gaya toh koi farak nahi padega". There is no logic in how the Ungli gang conducts its operations.
The big star cast is wasted. When you have intelligent actors like Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda, Emraan Hashmi & Neil, you give them a character, some not so typical lines even if you don't give them a good storyline to work with. No one impresses in the movie and the director is unable to bring out the best from his very brilliant actors.
There is no reason why this film stands out and should be skipped.
