X: Past is Present is the story of K (Rajat Kapoor), a filmmaker with a mid life crisis, who meets a mysterious young girl (Aditi Chengappa) who reminds him of his first girlfriend at first, and subsequently, of every woman in his life.

“With 11 different stories, this one is an honest attempt failed by its dull treatment.”

So a bunch of people decided to make a movie together. They decided to take a central character and made him a Film Director called K. This was important because then they could write all sorts of clever, witty and seductive dialogues for the man. Then they decided that 11 directors would film 11 different episodes from the man's life. What did they focus on? Obviously his love life. So in short:

1. 1. K as an adolescent rejects young girlfriend who tries to seduce him.

2. 2. K as a young man almost has sex with a young Tamil girl in a village.

3. 3. K seduces a 'firang' women whom he has been filming surreptitiously.

4. 4.K marries a woman and then fights with her.

5. 5.K has an affair with an actress and then leaves her.

6. 6. K has an affair with an actress and they have an accident.

7. 7. K seduces the kaamwali bai while hallucinating aobut a prostitute.

8. 8.K has an affair with a flat mate who he never sees.

9. 9..K has some scene with a woman and I couldn't get that story.

1110.K has sex with a woman in the US who takes him sight seeing.

1211.K tells all this to a woman who may or may not be real and he doesn't have sex with her

Of course, it's nice to see Huma Qureshi in a short shirt and sunglasses and nothing else.

It's also nice to see Swara Bhaskar in the only segment which has an interesting story.

It's not nice to see Radhika Apte doing nothing much except eat some pulao.

It is titillating to see various other women in nice lingerie lolling around on beds.

It is NOT nice to see a movie that makes no sense and is far too clever for its own good.

So, we all have experiences in our lives but not all of them make for a best-seller book or even an interesting party conversation. Some of us should take our sad lives and bury our tears alone in our bed at night. If there is no real story and no real emotion and not even any real portrayal of a person to make him more real and human to us there is no real need to tell me. I go to enough boring parties and meet enough real boring people to have to sit through two hours of pointlessness. Avoid.
