Verdict - Emotionally gripping and an honest narration of what had happened in Kuwait in 1990.

When their identity is reduced to a number, India gives them their identity back.

1, 70,000 stranded Indians, homeless and crying for help, one shrewd businessman and his fight for their identity, his realist wife and an ignorant government, yet the pride of being an Indian and belonging to one nation. This is what Airlift is about.

It goes back to the time when Kuwait was invaded by Iraq in the year 1990 and life had come to a standstill. Kuwait had lost it all, and in fact the Kuwaiti diplomats had left the people to die. When no one came to their aid, a businessman rescues them with the help of the Indian Air Force, Air India and Indian Airlines. These commercial pilots, along with the Indian Air Force, flew over the war zone to help the people they didn't know.

Akshay Kumar plays the character of Ranjit Katyal, a rich businessman in Kuwait, who takes the responsibility of getting these people out of Kuwait. Nimrat Kaur plays the role of his wife, and these two display the best of talent they have. Akshay does complete justice to the character. He is convincing and believable. It goes without saying that when it comes to films like these, Akshay Kumar is best at it.

Nimrat Kaur has a little role to play but an important one. She pushes the cart forward and successfully displays the traits of a wife who is bewildered to see her husband change from a shrewd businessman to a person who is fighting for the lives of 1,70,000 Indians, whom he doesn't even know.

Each and every character is important for the film and adds to the narration.

I am actually at a loss of words to describe what the film is, but in a word - it is excellent.
