The movie would have been exceptionally well had it been specifically mentioned as a spoof movie for action drama films. But alas! That didn’t quite happen.
Don Lal Bhaisahab Dubey (Sunny Deol) is the local goon of Varanasi. He is the lord of the crime world of the city. But his life takes sad turn after his wife Sapna Dubey (Preity Zinta) leaves him out of fit of jealousy. To win Sapna back, Bhaisahab Dubey aka 3D dreams of seeing himself on screen and making himself popular. He thinks that this will make Sapna come back to him. To facilitate this mad affair and make a movie titled ‘Bhaiaji Superhit’, he seeks the services of Tarun Porno Ghosh (Shreyas Talpade), Goldie Kapoor (Arshad Warsi) and Mallika (Ameesha Patel) who are writer, director and a superstar respectively.
The plot of the movie looked promising and it seemed like it would be an entertaining ride with lots of laughter. Turns out, the entertainment was limited only to few parts of the movie which undoubtedly made us chuckle hard. But apart from few funny dialogues, there was nothing entertaining about it and the film appeared like a drag making us wonder our decision of watching the film altogether.
Overstatement and exaggeration- these two terms clearly do justice in describing Bhaiaji Superhit. Action scenes which defy gravity and basically all laws of physics were what comprised almost half of the movie. Ironically, they will make you laugh more than leaving you in awe. But sadly, that wasn’t the intention of the film and filmmakers.
Had this movie been mentioned as a spoof, we would definitely pass it as entertaining for it had all the clichés of Bollywood action movies in exaggeration.
The only saving parts of the movie were the performances of Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi and Preity Zinta. They did complete justice to their roles and proved their prowess as great actors in a film with such weak script. There isn’t much to praise about Shreyas Talpade and Ameesha Patel for they didn’t quite deliver for their role.
Bhaiaji Superhit is the movie you should prefer not spending your bucks on for we have spent them for you.
