The film under review is a ' daring 'attempt to keep a 'dated controversy' alive .
The plot: There is the journalist fraternity ( the protagonist)in the first grouping and the gangster empire ( the antagonist) in the other. The former invariably is on the look out for 'creating controversies' whenever there's a decline in it's TRPs.After all media is also a business and profitable at that.
Here there's a media couple in Arnab Ghosh ( a TV anchor ,played by Sunil Grover) and Parul( her expecting spouse whose on a maternity leave from her crime reporting assignment, played by Anjana Sukhania). The husband has been removed by his boss( Rajesh Sharma as Roy),from the prime time slot to the evening slot of cookery. He's upset and depressed. He's living on borrowed money and has high EMIs to discharge. The spouse shares the husbands demotion.A casual thought is the spark. She desires that her husband interviews D and bounce back.
He and his team does come face to face with D .The interview is arranged in a neighbouring country. The rest is about the conversational interview which takes about half an hour in the second half.
What one liked. The performances of Sunil Grover and Zakir Hussain( as D) is outstanding.Sunil is unsure and shaky to begin with, gets 'aggressive' and 'provoking' as the interview progresses.Zakir is calm and satirically evasive in his answers. The interview is gripping. The tempo build up is effective.
Sunil has got a role of substance to show his art.Ine hopes that he gets more meaty roles rather than waiting his talents in mundane comical weekend appearances in comic stuff.Zakir is one of the more understand actor in the big screen. He has a personality and the aura to play a don.
Dippanita Sharma ( as Neha, the news writer) takes care of the glamour angle.Rajesh Sharma( as usual ,as the news room boss) shones along with Pankaj Tripathi( as Girdhari Secular, the right hand of D) .
To me the A certificate limits the viewership. Also, the D controversy seems to be dated and forced .It has reached it's expiry date.
The discerning viewer could be comforted to have a dekho.
