With Zoya Akhtar, you can always expect something better than the last time that you were at the movies. Personally, I've always felt that Zoya's films have always had more to offer than just the exotic locations, good looking actors and entertainment. Very few directors in our industry are good enough to entertain while dealing with issues than just mocking them. Her films have not a message but thinking point that keeps hammering from within.

Coming to Dil Dhadakne Do, this one is a film that I have loved without biases.

Kamal Mehra (Anil Kapoor) is a well reputed industrialist who lives with his wife Neelam (Shefali Shah) and his spoiled brat as a son, Kabir Mehra (Ranveer Singh). Kamal is busy with his business & business trips (pun intended), while Neelam keeps busy with her social appearances at kitty parties. Kabir flies planes as a hobby and is prepping up to fill in his father's shoes to become the next CEO of AYKA. AY standing for Ayesha Mehra- Sangha (Priyanka Chopra), Kabir's older sister who was married to Maanav (Rahul Bose) a well to do businessman. With her business acumen, Ayesha has successfully taking her online travel portal to one of the top best in the lot. However, the Mehras believe in dissociating with their daughters after marrying them off. Thus, there is a very weak connection between Ayesha and her parents. Her closest aide in the family is her brother Kabir.

To celebrate the 30 years of their wedding, Kamal and Neelam invite a whole bunch of friends and family on a cruise vacation to celebrate. They also invite Lalit Sood (Parmeet Sethi) so that they could get Kabir to marry his daughter and save AYKA from bankruptcy.

Ayesha wants to divorce Maanav and get back to Sunny (Farhan Akhtar). Kabir falls in love with Farah (Anushka Sharma). Their is a major conflict of interests in this dysfunctional family. Dil Dhadakne Do is their tale! If you haven't met, a major part of the film is narrated by Pluto Mehra (with Aamir Khan's voice), a pug.

The film is long, slow and boring if you're not in to Bollywood. Some may not even like the high-society pretentiousness. But all aside, this film is beautiful not just for being so visually mesmerizing but for also bringing out the problems families, marriages and individuals face. Packaged in a lavishly gorgeous high-society look, there is enough for everyone to associate with. I hadn't really been a fan of the music earlier, but when you watch the film it totally fits in. Along with Shankar-Ehasaan-Loy's background score which makes everything look so near perfect.

Anil Kapoor is dashing and how! Shefali Shah underplays her character and looks convincing in every frame *her dialogues are still ringing in my head*.Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra should make it to the top of the best siblings on screen list already. Individually they are so so good, but together they are a riot.

Farhan Akhtar, did not start his career as an actor. Why? So very good looking, extremely convincing and that scene where he defines feminism, you'd wanted to stand up and clap!

A major chunk of credit goes to Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar for writing the film this way. Equally so for Farhan who's written some very fine dialogues. There's a lot of drama, many more moments of laughter and some teary eyed moments as well.

This film ain't cliche, but it's fun, it's awesome. Dil Dhadakne Do is worth all your time.
