Verdict - Don Bourne Hunt is what it tries to become instead of staying just Don.

    Don 2Watch trailerRelease date : December 23, 2011

I had read a detailed 5 page synopsis of Don 2 almost 4 months back (Dont ask how). I had to read it at least 3 times to make sense of it. No, it was not smart writing but rather the lack of it. Right then I knew it would require major effort from Director Farhan Akhtar and superstar Shahrukh Khan to make an engaging and entertaining film out of this bad writing.

Whats it about? Not much of a sequel but a next in the series. Mark Donald urf Don (Shahrukh Khan) is back since the last film and this time has his eyes on the printing plates for the Euro. Roma (Priyanka Chopra), Malik (Om Puri) & Vardhaan (Boman Irani) make a comeback but Jasjeet (Arjun Rampal) is left out, in his place we see a new character Sameer (Kunal Kapoor).

    Does it work? No

Why? Its shot and executed at par with the best of thrillers in Hollywood but sadly all this gloss cannot compensate for the lethargic writing. As an audience I didnt care for Don or any of the characters so all that getting out of the jail seq, car chase, and the heist does not bring in the thrill which it was supposed to. When you find yourself watching an action thriller with a laidback posture the signs of fatigue in the movie is clearly out there. According to the script except Don all the characters are Ch****a. Don can fool everyone anytime. Guess they put us the audience also somewhere amongst the characters. There is a nod to Mission Impossible in one of the sequences that has Hrithik Roshan in a special appearance. Roma and Malik are unintentionally funny. Some of their scenes provided the much needed entertainment.

Don 2 yet again proves that we are far behind as far as script writing is concerned. People here cannot read scripts or evaluate them. Building kitni bhi chamka lo foundation mein locha hai, toh hai. Its been ten years since his debut and sadly Farhan has made only one film that earns him my respect. Shahrukh Khan is the only person having fun with what hes got to do. He looks smashing in the stubble and long hair look. After Om Shanti Om (2007) this film celebrates the superstar. People who didnt like him in Ra.One but still like/love him will find solace in this out and out SRK film. Sadly he has had bad luck off late. Before Ra.One, Robot stole the limelight when it comes to Sci-Fi and just weeks before Don 2, MI 4 peaked when it comes to action thrillers.

Final Few Words: Don Bourne Hunt is what it tries to become instead of staying just Don.
