I have been deprived of a full blown masala Hindi film this year so there were a couple of things which made me look forward to this film. Shridhar Raghavan (Khakee), Rohan Sippy (Bluffmaster) & Midival Punditz doing the background were a few of them.

Abhishek bachchan is bought in to clean up the menace of drug mafia in Goa. He is in search of a man called Michael Baarbosa. Inter connected with this central premise are personal stories of Prateik, Rana Daggubatti & Bipasha Basu.

What works for the film is that, for a change Abhishek Bachchan is not irritating even though he plays a mash up of the cop roles he has done before. There are some cool lines in the film the killer line of all is mere paas maal hai! Loved it! In a film filled with a huge star-cast what worked were smaller actors like Bugs Bhargava, the guy who plays Ricky (think his name is Gulshan Deviah). In one shot he looks like Ranjeet of once in a blue moon fame. The actor who plays Mercy Dcosta is the most adorable character of all. In terms of the hotness factor, the babe who plays Rozanna is ten times better than Bipasha & Deepika put together. Rana Daggubatti is stiff in terms of acting and will score brownie points from women just for his looks. Prateik is getting repetitive with his lost in the woods kind of act and its only his 3rd film. Why his role was billed as a special appearance is a mystery! He also needs to do something about his dialogue delivery. Bipasha Basu stays true to her image of showing zero emotions on her face. Aditya Panscholi looks tired mouthing his lines. I kept going back to his performance in Mahasangram & Aatish every time he was on screen. This is Rohan Sippys 3rd film in 8 years and all I can say is yeh film Bluffmaster se thodi kam hai aur Kuch Na Kaho se thodi zyaada. What this film required was to be more edgy & cool, which it is not because in terms of narrative it caters to two different audiences and aims to reach the a larger base of people.

Final few words: Dum Maaro Dum with all its flaws is still worth spending a decent time at the movies.
