Verdict - intent is honest, execution flawed, but hey, this will not fry your brains
The story of the common man his dreams and how they are never fulfilled has been attempted a bit more often of late. Ekkees toppon ki salaami is also one from the same genre. This is no Do duni chaar but hey, it will also not fry your brain up.
Purushottam is an honest government employee who all his life has been a good soul doing his work with sinceirity. His life's dream is to be "respected" with a 21 cannon salute, the highest form of respect in his view. His two sons are now to ensure this happens, though getting this to happen means they have to undo every ideal that their father upheld in his life. A contrast of times, generations, moral values with a huge dose of confusion and comedy,
The film has its strengths, mainly in the acting, Anupam, Manu Rishi, Divyendu and Neha are refreshing odd ball actors who charm always. Another plus is the fact that the film does not preach at any point its message, choosing madcap comedy and hillarity to drive the point home. This unfrotunately also is its undoing.
The madness, the confusion, it all sort of goes out of hand a bit making one wonder why simplicity of intent never translated into the execution. Director Ravindra Gautam tries to do akhosla la ghosla but falters big time as he is unable to bring a method to the madness on screen.
Nonetheless, it still is a warm film that doesnt really harm you. A small film with decent performances is worth the watch anytime, whether it is worth the heavy ticket prices though, well even big budget films dont cut ice in this department do they?
