Verdict - A romantic comedy with the right mix of romance and comedy. Great story, super acting. Go for it!

Hasee tho phasee is a complete misnomer for this very sweet romantic comedy. It's not about a ditzy girl and some Romeo as the title suggests but a very real story about two believable people and their romance.

Nikhil is the khandaani IAS, IPS, IFS etc family's black sheep, who runs an event management business to try and impress his super rich Gujrati girlfriend. Meeta is a super educated, intelligent girl who runs away from home and is on anti depressants. They meet, go their own ways and then meet again in circumstances that throw them together and sparks fly. But of course, he is committed elsewhere and she doesn't stand a chance. I don't want to reveal too much of the story since it unfolds much like a Chinese scroll and you have to see the events for the story to happen. My telling you anything more will be just me playing spoilsport and like you all too much for that J

The movie has everything to keep you involved from the first scene onwards. There are sparklingly funny moments, a lot of emotional ones without getting maudlin or cloying and plenty of action to movie the story along at a great pace. Except for a scene or two, which get a bit extended the story movies with zest and spirit. The songs are a bit of a disappointment though the Punjabi Ishq bulava is pretty haunting even if it reminds me of an English song.

Parineeti is in her element and though she has played the spunky girl before, this time there are shades of a vulnerability which add depth to her character and make your heart go out to her. Sidharth Malhotra as the guy afraid to take risks is charming, sensitive and gets more and more under the skin of the character as the movie progresses. Their chemistry is great and makes the romance believable. The supporting cast well, supports like strong scaffolding, especially the actor who plays the Kanpur guy who loves to sing. These quirky characters really make a good movie even better.

After a long time I have enjoyed a romantic comedy and come out feeling all soft and woozy and thinking of Cupids and arrows and roses. Perfect build up to Valentine's day. Get yourself a date, share a cold drink and popcorn and snuggle up. Suitable for kids.. if you insist on taking them.
