I picked this movie because I know that Irfan Khan takes up some of the best projects. Plus, the trailer was interesting and funny. I wanted to watch a funny movie.

Raj Batra and Meeta are high-middle class people. They own a decent fashion store and can afford expensive stuff. Meeta is worried about their daughter getting admission in a good school but unfortunately all the schools they try for do not accept their daughter. The last option is poor quota. From there things go from bad to worse.

The movie is so honest. I didn't know it is such a big deal to get kids into primary schools. I mean college and MBA are competitive but this is horrible. Such little kids who should be playing are sent for training so that they can impress expensive schools. The movie goes on to expose the extent to which people go just to get the best for their child. Any parent would do this but when rich parents pretend to be poor to get a chance to apply in the poor quota, they don't realize they are stealing an opportunity from a child. An innocent child.

Not only parents, but school have their own schemes running as well.

All in all, I think Irfan Khan played a good role of a husband and father. His fight put him down so many times because he couldn't speak English. Yet, he did everything she said and tried so hard to keep her smiling.
There is a scene where he dances with his little girl but because his wife feels embarrassed, he doesn't dance again.

We are so affected by society, it is sad. We put each other down because of the bank balance. Does that really matter? What happened to good hearts?

    Family movie : For sure
