Verdict - Kai Po Che is about lost friends and broken friendship. Ties we cut and ties that cut us.

Kai Po CheWatch trailerRelease date : February 22, 2013

Loosely translated kai po che means " i cut you". Three friends emotionally cut each other leaving wounds that are difficult to heal. Having read the immensely forgettable book that it is based on, I can clearly say Abhishek Kapoor deserves a pat on the back for having the conviction to turn that book into such a fine film. he gives the three characters a new heart.

Ishaan ( Sushant Singh Rajput) is a cricket fanatic who never made it as a cricketer, he lives in his self created shell, is volatile, impulsive but has no ego and can say sorry very easily.

Omi (Amit Sadh) is the one with no focus, no goals, he is a fan of Ishaan, always taking his side and goes with the flow of what the other two plan.

Amongst the three Govind ( Rajkumar Yadav)is the one who is extremely focused. His focus is money. He wants to be an entrepreneur. At times it feels that he is friends with the two of them only for his own benefit.

Kai Po Che is a more character driven film. The story and events are simply used as a device to bring out the inner turmoil in their lives. It is about how we hurt the most closest people in our lives because of our own messed up minds.

Ishaan's character is the one I connected with the most and his track about finding himself by training Ali ( The wonder kid) is the heart of the film. Sushant Singh Rajput stands out amongst the three in terms of the like ability of a character and the energy he brings to it but it is Amit Sadh with those hypnotic silent stares who edged all of them and gave a glimpse of what he is capable of. Raj Kumar Yadav has not hit a single false note yet as an actor but for his best wait for Hansal Mehta's Shahid. Here he is an able support since the focus of the story is more on the relationship between Sushant and Amit.

Anay Goswami ( Photography), Deepa Bhatia ( Editing) and Hitesh Sonik ( Background Music) are the three stars who worked behind the scene to raise this film to be a called a well crafted film

With just three songs in the film Abhishek Kapoor has made a powerful statement that even if you have the best of talent ( Amit Trivedi and Swanand Kirkire) dont overuse them. One 'Maanjha' is good enough to remember this film for a long time.

Word of mouth - Kai Po Che is about lost friends and broken friendship. Ties we cut and ties that cut us.

    Rating - **** ( Very Good)

Ticket meter - worth a visit to the theatre.
