When a poor farmer father (Adil Hussain) was faced with an extreme financial crisis, his impotence leads him to a decision to sell one of his daughter Preeti (Riya Sisodiya) to a procurer. Upon finding this truth, Sonia (Mrunal Thakur) begs to Dada Thakur (Anupam Kher) be sent to the same place where Preeti is. She doesn’t realize what she’s getting herself into, she only cares for her sister and is willing to go lengths for her. The story is nerve wrecking and not easy to digest. It leaves you with an unsettling feeling that you won’t even feel like eating anything during the movie. It beautifully shows how this profession operates at many layers mainly as the organized business. This is a film that does not leave you only with the brutality of the truth, but also manages to be poetic at the same time. The central character is a young school girl, Sonia who goes through physical and mental torture. The movie shows us what she experiences during the whole journey. The movie narrates the loss of innocence and childhood while portraying how she faces the hard reality of life in an unexpected way. While watching the film you experience that something is dying you inside as you witness the hell ride which Sonia goes through. Love Sonia does not give up on the idea of beauty, and further shows us that in the density of information, in the abundance of truth, true artistic beauty is hidden.
