Mitron is a kind of feel- good movie you’d prefer watching on a lazy Sunday afternoon with no unpredictability.
Set in Gujarat, Mitron is the story of Jai (Jackky Bhagnani) who is a lazy middle class guy with a laid back attitude towards life failing to meet the surmounting expectations of his father (Neeraj Sood) who wants him to do big in life. Jai’s father decides to get him married in order to instill stability in his life. Here, Avni (Kritika Kamra) enters the picture as a young, passion driven and career- oriented MBA graduate who wants to do her own business someday. Circumstances bring them closer to each other for their common frustration towards their parent’s expectations. Their paths converge and the film goes on explore their journey together.
The script is quite simple and straight forward and there’s nothing extraordinary to expect from it. The first half of the film is indeed intriguing as the story unfolds gradually and there’s a lot to look forward to. But towards the second half, it becomes nothing but full of clichés and predictable twists.
There are certain aspects where the film did a great job like in presenting the generational gap attitude reflected both in Avni and Jai’s father. Also, the film brings forward the true idea of feminism in the character of Avni, which is not a common sight in Bollywood thriving with a false notion of it.
Kritika Kamra was a delight to watch and made her presence felt in every scene she was a part of. But honestly, we felt that she deserved a much better project with a strong script to make her debut. On the contrary, Jackky Bhagnani fell flat with his flat expressions and negligible charisma. We surely expected much more from his characters. Supporting actors who essayed the roles of Jai’s friends brought the much needed fun element in the movie.
Overall, Mitron by Nitin Kakkar is not a movie you go to theatre halls with high expectations.
