Verdict - You can watch the film if you have a knack for slapstick comedy, otherwise it can be given an easy miss!

At the beginning of the year, an Arjun Kapoor flick released and told us how pointless a film can be. Much before this, Arjun Kapoor doubled himself in yet another flick to prove that one Arjun Kapoor is enough and that you should never combine him with himself. Anees Bazmee did that once again and the film did not look too hopeful!

But for a change, the fault isn't in Arjun Kapoor this time. Clearly it lay on the over complicated storyline, a comic script where the jokes ceased to be funny and too much gyan laden with sexism stretching for a run-time way longer than was necessary!

To begin with, Charan and Karan are two twin brothers who become cousins, thanks to their fate. As they grow up, they fall in love. Karan, who has been raised in a liberal environment in London is in love with Sweety. But Sweety by mistake insults his mother once, and now Karan cannot reveal that she is his girlfriend. Charan, who is raised in a conservative Punjabi house, is in love with Nafisa. But because he is goody two shoes and agyakaari, he cannot tell his conservative father about his girlfriend from another community. Binkle just lands up in the narrative in between and is in love with Charan. Charan too starts developing feelings for her. But the egos of their fathers had clashed and now their possibility of being together too seems impossible. How would they solve their situation, is what the film is all about!

Now let's come to the person who is responsible behind all the confusion- Kartar Singh. He has crazy ideas that have always landed everyone on trouble and it is him who solves everything at the end.

The story is utterly confusing and over complicated. It's like somebody mashed Humshakal with Housefull. The slapstick factor is like all other Anees Bazmee film, but somewhere the ability to hold attention that Welcome had is missing! The story is dragged too long and it becomes predictable and super boring by the end.

It is said that when you're heading for a comedy, you should not be thinking. But that makes the movie a slapstick rather than a smart situational comedy. Mubarakan attempts to be situational but is stuck at slapstick. I just could not get over the fact that a character from another community has been introduced just to be poked fun at and that the film is laden with sexism! Women are treated like properties of men and you might feel disgusted at the stereotypical sexist jokes that were cracked throughout the film!

The performances were one good point in the movie. While Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor did a good job, it was clearly Pavan Malhotra who stole the show. Ileana D'Cruz had some role in the film, while Athiya Shetty was barely there. The supporting cast was good!

The songs in the film looked out of place most of the time, while a few were well placed. The cinematography was also great. But what ruined the experience was the editing. The film was dragged way to long and the viewers would surely lose patience by the end of the film.

Overall, the film is entertaining at bits and parts, but that wasn't sufficient to sustain a longer than 2 hours movie. You can watch this one if you have a knack for slapstick comedy, otherwise it can be given an easy miss!
