    Verdict - WATCH IT NOW

Paan Singh TomarWatch trailerRelease date : March 02, 2012

Tigamnshu Dhulia has proven in the past that Indias rustic experience is his fortay & this time he crafts a biopic on the life of a steeplechase champion turned dacoit Paan Singh. Is this work as convicing has his last few films?
Spend that outrageous Rs.300/- this weekend as its worth every penny.

Paan Singh Tomar (Irrfan Khan) is a quirky guy. He enlists himself in the army soon after independence only to realize that he could get to eat more food if he dabbles with sports. He has one passion Running & one Major Masand sees that, leading to him achieving great heights in the sport. Certain incidents change his course and eventually take him to the ravines of the Chambal. What happens of him, you need to watch to find out.

Though at 2hrs15min the film is quite long, it doesnt quite seem as the first half is crisp and breezes past. The second half gets a little long drawn but still manages to grip you for most of it.

The cinematography by Aseem Mishra deserves a special mention as it builds the mood perfectly.
The background score by Sandeep Chowta is compelling and bang on.

Irrfan Khan leaves you speechless with an astounding portrayal of the national champion who was only remembered for his misdeeds rather than his achievements. He carries the film on his shoulders in a role that looks tailor made for him.

Director Tigmanshu D impresses yet again. After Shagird & Sahib Biwi, this is a hattrick of films that could be brilliant but somewhere fall a little short. I only wish that production houses would pump more money & belief into such a director as he understands the rural underbelly of India better than most.

All in all, Paan Singh Tomar is a must watch. This compelling story of an unsung hero turned villain is one of the best films this year yet.
Sadly, I dont see this creating any magic at the box office & really hope that after reading this review, few of youll would go watch it.

Just one issue, the film has subtitles as most of the dialogues are in Bundelkhandi dialect. Though it adds to the authenticity, it can get to you at times. Nevertheless, watch it..SAY YES !!
