"Jab kismet mein likhe ho hathode, toh kahan se milenge pakode..." RECESSION has been such a big issue for quite some time that so many movies were made on this subject but even Barrack Obama mustn't have thought that Indians can be so innovative in their approach that they can create a comedy out of this as well.

Director Subhash Kapoor proved that a good movie does not require high budget and massive star cast. The main ingredient to make a worth-watching movie is an interesting storyline and this has been proved in past with movies like Tere Bin laden, Udaan, Khuda Ke liye and Peepli. These movies not only did justice to their plot but also the caste consisted of talented actors who gave life to their characters.

'Phas Gaye Re Obama' is a story of an NRI who comes to India to sell off his ancestral house so that he can payback his loans in AMERICA, sounds really simple but the way this plot has been showcased is so engaging that you will love every bit of it. The strength of this movie is its originality and the way every event is screened. Though the basic idea remains the same and is repeated four times but the way it is screened every time gives a fresh feel to it. From start till the finale movies maintains its momentum and will tickle your funny bone at many places.

Honestly, I give big thumbs up to the casting director as they all did their job brilliantly. The caste was not only efficient but every character added a new flavor to the plot. Rajat Kapoor's role as Om Shastri, bankrupt businessmen who is so full of ideas that he actually earns $100,000 by getting kidnapped is just amazing. Sanjay Mishra as Bhaisaab, a career-oriented gangster whose kidnapping business is badly affected by market slump is flawless. His comic timing, dialogue delivery and expressions are just perfect. Amol Gupte as Dhananjay, a hungry politician who has some stomach issues is impressive. Manu Rishi as Anni , a US-obsessed thug was superb. Do watch out for his English speaking classes and 'yes we can' proposal.

One character that was above my expectations was the female-gabbar, Munni (Neha Dhupia). She surprised me with her performance and I think is at her best in this hilarious flick.
'Phas Gaye Re Obama' is not flawless but it will give you many place to laugh out loud. Its effective and covers the issue of economy slump from a perspective of thugs. The thought of showing how every person whether a businessman or a gangster is struck by economy crunch is not only original but is also presented wonderfully in this laughter riot.

Footer: Do go for this flick as you will enjoy every bit of it. I am pretty sure that once again a low-budget movie will impress the masses.
