A rich girl felling in love with a poor guy and against family desires and expectations, she marries the guy. The story though very cliched, Raja Hindustani manages to bring out laugh, emotions out of the audiences thanks to the star acts by Aamir and Karishma. Add to it the director Dharamesh
Dharshan's sensibility the movie turned out to be a hit at the box office.
Raja Hindustani (Aamir Khan) is a highly self-respected taxi driver. Aarti Kapur (Karishma) daughter of Suresh Oberoi and has a step-mom Archana Puran Singh, plans to visit hill station named Palankhet to find the memories of her dead mother. She comes across Raja, a taxi driver, she hires for travel across the station. Raja's hilarious instincts and both fell in love. Suresh comes to hill station to take her back, but discovers she is in love with Raja. He offers Raja to come along and live their life and their standards. Raja turns the offer down, and asks Aarti to stay with him. Aarti accepts and in marries Raja. Then things turn out, Suresh longs for his daughter, and takes her for some time to his home and Raja too. And then comes the bitchy
mother-in-law playing the spoilsport, misusing the Raja's innocence and self-worth.
The performances are brilliant. Aamir comes completely in a new role, his accent matches that of illiterate taxi-driver, his looks and everything are tremendous. Karishma too comes out with a life-time role playing the rich girl to woman married to a common man. Archana plays wicked character very well.
The music is great. Pardesi PArdesi was on everyone's lips when it came up.
The story progresssion is brilliant and it unfolds very well. This one surely makes you laugh and evoke tears both.
