Verdict - Rowdy Rathore tries hard to be Wanted, Dabangg and Singham rolled into one.

Rowdy RathoreWatch trailerRelease date : June 01, 2012

Films like Rowdy Rathore work solely on the shoulder of its hero. Salman, Aamir, Ajay and Hrithik have had their share with this genre recently which is called Masala Potboiler. This time it is Akshay Kumar & Sanjay Leela Bhansalis turn to woo lady luck at the box office with all hopes pinned to Prabhu Deva.

Whats it about? 50 minutes of Pyar Mohabbat and Chin ta ta tita tita between Akshay and Sonakshi with flashes of some scenes that serve as a build up to the 2nd half which in turn is filled action, action, action.

My Take The 1st half is a drag in which Akshay Kumar does his usual act with some songs thrown in. It focuses more on Sonakshis Desi kamariya more than her acting skills. Even the song in the 1st half doesnt provide much entertainment. Sonakshi is kept out through the 2nd half and brought back only towards the climax. You can survive the 1st half only if your focus is on leching at Sonakshi or you are an Akshay fan. Akshays sidekick called 2G tries hard to provide comic relief but falls flat on his face. By the time I was 50 minutes into the film I was pleading with Akshay Kumar bhai, please angry ho. It is in the 2nd half that you find some good action sequences and unintentional humor. It also has 2 songs that are absolutely paisa vasool. Mumait Khan, Shakti Mohan and Maryam Zakaria rowdy dancing in 'aa re pritam pyare' and Sonakshi dabangg dancing in Dhadank Dhadank is of full on entertainment value. Nassers attempt at doing a Prakash Raj style comic villain is the weakest link in the film. The unintentionally funny parts are the water effect on Vikram Rathore, Yashpal Sharmas wife's scene in the end and Sonakshi bringing out her inner Rowdy in the climax. This isnt half as entertaining as Prabhu Devas previous film Wanted. At best it is a much better Akshay Kumar film than the ones he has been doing recently and with this one he and Sanjay Leela Bhansali might also strike gold at the box office.

Word of mouth Rowdy Rathore tries hard to be Wanted, Dabangg and Singham rolled into one.

    Rating - ** 1/2 (Average)

Ticket Meter Worth 150 bucks for the songs, dance and action.
